So there you are eating a bite of food and checking Facebook when a video for the World’s Biggest Pimple pops up in your newsfeed with a disgusting preview photo (okay, bad pun there!). Or you’re sitting there checking Facebook with your 7 year old son looking over your shoulder and a video of mostly-naked women shows up. Facebook thinks it’s a good idea to force you to have these videos show up. Fortunately, there is a way to block or disable Socialcam videos on your Facebook news feed!

You can’t remove the Trending Videos without installing a 3rd-party software plugin. But, you CAN remove the apps within Facebook that are pushed through the Trending Videos  and in so doing, hide the Trending Videos feed. Just disable Socialcam videos, Viddy videos, and other video services the Trending Video feed pushes by blocking them. Follow these steps to block video services like Socialcam, Viddy, and others from posting in your Facebook news feed:

Steps To Disable Socialcam Videos:

1. Look at the top right of your Facebook page. Right next to your name and “Home,” you will see a small arrow pointing down. Click on that and then click “Privacy Settings” in the drop-down menu. 

2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Manage Blocking” (located to the right of ‘Blocked People and Apps’)

3. Type the name of the video app (Socialcam, Viddy, etc), and hit ‘Enter’. [Do this for all the video services Trending Videos uses, and Trending Videos will have nothing to show].

That’s all it takes to disable Socialcam or Viddy and end the trending videos feed.

Now you can enjoy your newsfeed without being bombarded by inappropriate videos being shoved down your throat by Facebook.
